At least 81 people are reportedly dead and more than 200 are injured as a result of blast. Sources told that women, children were also among the victims. Burned school bags and books were strewn around. According to DIG Balochistan, around 1000 kg explosives were planted in a water supply tanker. Two markets are completely destroyed and the houses near the explosion area were damaged.
A spokesman for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni Militant Group, claimed responsibility for the bomb in Quetta, which caused casualties in the town’s main bazaar and a computer center.
Emergency was declared at Civil, CMH and BMC hospitals and many of the injured victims are reportedly serious.
Due to lack of rescue services, people shifted the injured victims to Civil, CMH and BMC hospitals by themselves. the area was cordoned off by security forces fearing another blast in the area. Ambulances and rescue teams were allowed to enter the area only after they were checked.
Today a shutter down strike is being observed in Quetta on call of political and religious parties.
